The concept of competence

We use the same definition used at the University of Girona as a guide and agreed to consider competences as a quite complex concept that relates to what a person knows and can do, and what he has learned in different contexts and phases of his life, by means of different complexity situations or problems, that an individual may have to deal with. In another way, a person is responsible for a certain aspect when they are able to put into play all his skills and knowledge available to resolve a problem or situation that it is raised. The application of knowledge, therefore, should be at the top of the proposed curriculum.

A clear and direct description of the formulation of competences is needed, without miss-interpretations and with a feasible way for the evaluation. Consequently, we have tried to avoid  formulations too burdensome, too long and difficult to understand. We have put special interest and we have emphasized that competences should not be a distant concept for the planning of the educational plan but something that had to stay close to decisively develop a more practical educational program.

Competences always begin with an infinitive verb, while the contents are headed by a noun.
