The University of Girona trains the European talent of water sanitation sector

Researchers from prestigious European research centres have taken part in a Water Campus course

Researchers of European centres took part in a course in the facilities of the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Girona (UdG). During the course the students have been trained around different modelling and support decision systems that improve the efficiency and sustainability of the wastewater treatment systems.

The Water Campus of University of Girona has received approximately 30 researchers from European research centres who have taken part in the course of “MODELLING AND DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS FOR SUSTAINABLE WASTEWATER TREATMENT “. The course has received more than 70 applicants, from different countries, with a wide expertise and a high research level.

The scientific coordinator of the course was the professor of Chemical Engineering of the UdG and researcher of ICRA, Joaquim Comas, who possesses a wide experience in decision support systems to asses and compare several alternatives of planning, design and control of environmental systems, especially, the related ones to the management of the urban water cycle.

According to the person in charge of the course, with activities like this one “Girona is starting being considered as a pole of knowledge and a place of innovation for the agents of the water sector”.

The course has taken place from April 25 to April 29 in the facilities of the Catalan Institute of Investigation of the Water (ICRA) and of the Faculty of Sciences of University of Girona.
