The UIB hosts an exhibition on water scarcity in developing countries


exposició aiguaThe Cooperation for Development and Solidarity Office at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) moves to the university campus the exhibition «Water, more than a resource, is part of what we are». This exhibition makes a tour for Colombia, El Salvador, Palestine, Morocco, the Amazon and Peru, starting from the Balearic Islands, to find out why in these countries is so hard to access drinking water. The exhibition also proposes actions to guarantee water rights, a basic human right declared by the UN General Assembly in 2010.The exhibition has been developed by Engineering without Borders at Balearic Islands, Illes Solidàries amb el Sud, the Center for Rural Studies and International Agriculture, Veterinarians without Borders, the Balearic Group of Ornithology and Defence of Nature (GOB), OIKOS, Nou Sud and Majorca Volunteers. It is supported by the Majorcan Fund for Solidarity and Cooperation and the Regional Ministry of Education and Culture of the Government of the Balearic Islands.

expo aiguaThe activity is part of the campaign H2O, Educational and Training Resources on Water at Planet Earth, driven by 8 NGOs of the Balearic Islands and financed by the Majorcan Fund for Solidarity and Cooperation.

Exhibition calendar:

  • From January 31st to February 10th, 2012, in the hall of the building Ramon Llull, University campus.
  • From February 13th to February 29th, 2012, in the hall of the building G. M. Jovellanos, University campus.
