The UIB awards prizes to winners of 3rd University Entrepreneurs Competition

winners of the 3rd University Entrepeneurs Competition of the UIBThe University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) has awarded prizes to winners of the 3rd University Entrepreneurs Competition. Prizes are awarded to the best business idea and innovative or tech-based business project, provided they haveprospects in the Balearic Islands. In this year’s edition, 23 proposals were submitted. The call was open for all members of the UIB university community, students, recent graduates (up to 5 years since graduation), administrative and services staff, and teaching and research staff.

The winners are:

Prize for best business plan, worth with 6,000 euros: it goes to the project MeteoClim Services, submitted by PhDs Sergio Alonso, Climent Ramis, Joan Cuxart, Romualdo Romero, and Victor Homar, from the Meteorology Research Group at the UIB, together with Carlos Alonso.

Prize for the best business plan in humanities, social sciences, and law, worth with 3,000 euros: it goes to the project Mima tu mente (Pamper your mind), presented by Ana Mantecón.

Prize for best business idea submitted by UIB students, worth with 1,500 euros: it goes to the project Illes Agro-Control, SL, presented by Ana Maria Gonzalez and Maria del Carme Munoz.

The 3rd University Entrepreneurs Competition aims to encourage the creation of new innovative companies, using the entrepreneurial potential of the University and supporting the students to apply the acquired knowledge and professional experience in the development of new commercially viable products and services. It is an initiative to support the creation of jobs and boosting economic activity in the Balearic Islands.

The competition is organized by the University of the Balearic Islands through The University-Company Foundation of the Balearic Islands (FUEIB). It is one more initiative on innovation and entrepreneurship within the RESET-UIB Entrepreneurship Program (Entrepreneur Sace and Spin-off Support), funded by the Universities, Research and Knowledge Transfer Department from the Government of the Balearic Islands, and with the support of “Sa Nostra“.

To develop their business plan, participants have had the support of the FUEIB through the RESET program.
