The UIB analyzes on a workshop the challenges of selling on-line tourism services

welcome online tourismThe University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and Tourism & Law Lawyers organize the workshop Online Tourism: The challenges of selling by Internet, that will be held at the auditorium of the building Son Lledó, at the university campus of Palma, on 24 April from 9.30am to 15pm, approximately. Francisco Javier del Nogal, CEO at Tourism & Law Lawyers, and Dr. Santiago Cavanillas, dean of the Faculty of Law at the UIB will open the workshop. This workshop is part of the R&D&I project «New approach to online tourism services marketing», led as main researcher by Dr. Antonia Paniza, lecturer of Civil Law at the UIB.The use of new technologies in tourism is a reality that grows daily. There are many travel agencies called “.com” and hotel chains and transport companies that offer their products online. Also, together with the new technologies the profile of tourists has also changed. They seek more personalized products and they get involved with their opinions on specialized websites. Because of this fact, there are new legal problems, which are to be discussed at this workshop.

Two discussion boards will be set up: a technical one that will cover issues such as obligations and liability of providers of tourist services on the Internet, the analysis of new forms of advertising, and international aspects of hiring tourism services online and the legal problems of the relationships between online travel agencies and hotel companies. A second board will bring together sector entrepreneurs to discuss the practicalities of the online distribution of tourism products.

Attendance to the workshop is free but registration is required, which can be formalized through this form.
