The Tempus DEFI-Averroès project, involving the UIB and FUEIB, receives the award for best European project 2011

The international TEMPUS project DEFI-Averroès, involving the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and the University-Enterprise Foundation of the Balearic Islands (FUEIB), has received the award for best European project 2011, awarded by the French European-Education-Training Agency (2e2f). The Employability Development in Engineering Studies Project (DEFI-Averroès) is part of the European program TEMPUS IV and calls for modernization of higher education in Northern Africa and the Middle East countries, as well as convergence with the European higher education by strengthening cooperation among institutions. This project involves 25 universities in Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Belgium, France, and Spain, including the UIB.

The project aims to improve vocational training and employability of the engineers from the beneficiary countries to achieve faster job placement and development of entrepreneurship in higher education engineering. The specific objective of this project is to create University-Industry Liaison Offices (BLEU) in the Maghreb countries and Lebanon.
