The Group of universities G-9, in which the UIB participates, presents its new publishing imprint, Genueve Ediciones


The rector of the University of the Balearic Islands, Dr. Montserrat Casas, has assisted in Madrid to the presentation of the new publishing quality imprint of the Group 9 of universities (G-9), Genueve Ediciones, and to the presentation of the three first titles published under the new imprint: El público fantasma, of Walter Lippmann; El mito de la mano invisible, of Alessandro Roncaglia, and A culatazos; protesta popular y orden público en el Portugal contemporáneo, of Diego Palaces. All these titles have been published in the collection Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades.

The presentation has taken place in the headquarters of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE). Attendants to the event included the president of the CRUE and rector of the University of Cantabria, Federico Gutiérrez-Solana; the semiannual president of the G-9 and rector of the University of La Rioja, José María Martínez; the Research vice-rector of the University of Oviedo, Santiago García, and the director of the collection Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades of Genueve Ediciones, Javier Moreno, professor of History of the Political Ideas and Social Movements of the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. The rector of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Ernesto Martínez, and the rector of the University of the Balearic Islands, Montserrat Casas, also attended.

Genueve Ediciones

This new publishing imprint will  greater visibility and national and international diffusion to the scientific production created in the universities involved. All this will be done under standards of scientific rigour and external evaluation that will offer guarantees of quality to the publications.

Genueve Ediciones will have a scientific council. It will be formed by specialists that have at leasttwo 6-year research bonuses. It will apply a double evaluation system to all the materials and it will use the same system of follow-up and control of quality filters used by scientific magazines, the Open Journal Systems (OJS).

The Group 9 of Universities is a non-profit association born in 1997. It is formed by the public universities of Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, Balearic Islands, La Rioja, Navarra, Oviedo, Basque Country and Zaragoza. The universities of the G9 aim to promote collaboration between the university institutions of the Group, educational activities, and researchers.
