The Catalan Water Partnership arrives in Girona to enhance the water sector

The Catalan Water Partnership and the Girona Science and Technology Park have signed an agreement to establish a framework for collaboration in order to jointly promote the water sector, an area to which the Park is more and more strongly committed.

(Source: Diari de Girona newspaper) Through this collaboration, the CWP will contribute to scientific and technological specialization in the field of water and will have a space in the Jaume Casademont building of the University. The formal signing of the agreement was made yesterday in Girona, with the presence of the rector and president of the UdG Park, Anna Maria Geli, and the President of the Catalan Water Partnership, Jaume Carol.

The Catalan Water Partneship (CWP – Catalan Association for Innovation and Internationalization of the water sector) was set up in 2008 and is a strategic partnership composed of companies and knowledge centers operating in the water analysis and treatment sector. The main goal of this nonprofit organization is to improve the global competitiveness of its members.

Thus, the CWP has become a place where consulting organizations, knowledge centers, equipment manufacturers, engineering firms and other organizations related to the water cycle work together to promote multi-level collaborations, targeted at achieving innovative solutions to the global needs of quality water around the world from a sustainable perspective.

CWP works “with an innovative approach and an international perspective”, and therefore seeks to “establish strategic alliances with companies and knowledge centers from any country” like the one signed yesterday at the UdG Science and Technology Park.

Global applications

With agreements such as the one that brought the Association to  the Jaume Casademont building aims to work closely with collaborating centers “to identify and take advantage of opportunities, developing worlwide solutions of reference” in order to place the country “in an advanced position in the global marketplace”.

The areas in which the Association works are very diverse: in the industrial field, it focuses on tasks such as disinfection, filtration and reuse in the food, steel, energy, or the paper industries; and at a municipal level it works in water treatment, purification and desalination. It must also be said that the Association also focuses its work on analysis and control of water masses, both continental and marine.
