The Euro-Mediterranean Tourism and Water Campus (Campus e-MTA) has scheduled some activities to commemorate World Water Day, established by the United Nations (UN) on March 22nd. Scheduled activities will be held at the University of Gerona (UdG) and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). The planning includes all kinds of activities, from conferences to exhibitions.Activities at the UdG

The University of Gerona (UdG) will present the Campus e-MTA on Thursday, March 22nd, to the university community and society in general. The presentation, which will be in charge of Dr. Anna M. Geli, Rector of the University of Gerona, will be held at 19 PM in the auditorium of the building Narcís Monturiol of the Scientific and Technologic Park. Dr. Damia Barceló, director of the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), will present the conference ”Consolider-SCARCE. Assessing and predicting the effects of global change on the quantity and the quality of the Iberian rivers”.

Also, researchers at the University of Gerona collaborate with a series of informative articles about water. These contributions are brought together under the title Notes on water and can be read on the website of World Water Day at the UdG site.

Activities at the UIB

The building Mateu Orfila i Rotger of the campus of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) will host until Friday March 23rd the exhibit Water, much more than a resource, developed as part of the campaign H2O, Learning and Training Resources  on Water in the Earth Planet. The exhibition, which revisits the current situation in Colombia, El Salvador, Palestine, Morocco, the Amazon and Peru, starting from the Balearic Islands, shows why the population in these areas cannot access  clean water and proposes actions to ensure that right.

The Environmental Management and Sustainability Office of the UIB has installed, also in the Mateu Orfila i Rotger building, a point of environmental information to explain the campaign With common sense, in order to make the university community aware of environmental issues and resolve their questions about transport, energy, water or debris.
