Open days at the University of Girona

One of the priorities of the University of Girona is to strengthen relations with the territory. Its bonds with secondary school institutions, teachers, students and their families, and, all in all, with all citizens, are a strategic value which is, in a way, symbolically renewed every year on open days.

The UdG has scheduled several open days (JPO) in 2011. Some of them are specifically devoted to secondary school teachers in order to let them know about the most innovative aspects of teaching and methodologies used at the University of Girona and, above all, to inform them about all the collaboration possibilities offered for pre-university students (both for upper secondary education and compulsory secondary education). Some other open days are specific for students, who will be able to discover faculties, lecture rooms and laboratories, that is, the places that most probably will become their future working spaces. Also there is a third type of open days, in which the UdG opens its doors to all citizens who wish to explore it.

All this is part of a commitment expressed by the University in its 2009-2013 Strategic Plan as one of its values it wishes to preserve and strengthen.

Open days Schedule for 2010-2011 academic year

Open days for secondary school teachers

19 January, 2 February

This year we have thought it was important to talk about the offer of scholarships, stays at the university, prizes and research-related visits that the UdG promotes for secondary schools. Just like in the last few years, and in order to give visibility to the UdG commitment with research, knowledge transfer, entrepreneurship and relations with the society, this open days will be held at the Science and Technology Park.

Open days for compulsory and upper secondary school students

18 February, students and education institutions

Open days are a unique opportunity for you students to see at first hand the campuses, the buildings, the sports facilities, the courses offered and a wide range of cultural activities specially thought for you, so that these days are highlighted in your agendas. We want you to become the main characters of some days of discovery and that, for a day, you enjoy the opportunity to participate in university life, and you feel the UdG is your university.

We have prepared a set of activities that will take place from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm, such as guided tours and activities by studies. There will also be a visit to the fair “You have it at the UdG” where you will find the complementary activities offered by the services and associations that are part of the UdG. The fair is located on the Montilivi Campus, in front of the Faculty of Science and, in the event of rain, the activities will be moved to the Relation Space of the Law Faculty or to the common lecture rooms.

For you not to miss any of the activities we offer, there will be a free bus service available for you.

Open days for everyone

14 May, general public and families

Don’t wait for anyone to tell you about it: come and see the University of Girona. We have prepared a set of activities that will take place from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm, that we hope will be of your interest. Please check the schedule of information sessions and guided tours by degree and faculty. Also, the Student Information and Advice Centre (CIAE), located on the Montilivi Campus, will stay open (9.30 am to 1.45 pm) to clear any doubts you might have regarding accommodation in Girona for the academic year, scholarships and grants, and access to university for students of upper secondary school and advanced vocational training courses and for mature students (over 25, 40 and 45). You will be informed about the new structure of university entrance examinations, cut-off marks and admission marks. Also they will offer advice to properly complete the university pre-registration (place application), since entrance requirements have changed. Also the students’ hall of residence RESA, located on the Montilivi Campus, will open its doors and will be accessible for the public to visit it and make any inquiries.
