New bacteria have been isolated from natural environments to recover areas polluted with toxic chlorophenols
Members of the Molecular Microbial Ecology group (gEMM) of the Water Ecology Institute (UdG), in collaboration with researchers from the Pharmacy Faculty of Barcelona University (UB), have determined the presence in natural environments of bacteria capable to withstand high concentrations of chlorophenols, highly toxic chlorinated compounds which are used in the chemical industry and can cause environmental pollution.
