Marta Marcos, researcher at the IMEDEA (UIB-CSIC), awarded with the MedCLIVAR young scientist prize


The award recognizes her contribution to research in fundamental aspects of the sea level in the Mediterranean

Marta Marcos, researcher at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA, UIB-CSIC) has been awarded with the young scientist MedCLIVAR prize. This award intends to increase the young researchers visibility inside the international scientific community.

The ceremony, during which the career of three additional European scientists was recognized, coincided with the final meeting of the MedCLIVAR Mediterranean Climate Variability and Predictability congress, that took place in Lecce, Italy, on June 2011.The prize awarded to Marta Marcos recognises her contribution in the research about fundamental aspects of the sea level in the Mediterranean and her active participation in MedCLIVAR activities.

Dr. Marta Marcos is a researcher at the IMEDEA Department of Ecology and Marine Resources (UIB-CSIC). Her research focuses in the level of the Mediterranean. Marta Marcos has published more than 30 papers in scientific journals and more than 50 contributions in European conferences. Currently, Dr. Marta Marcos prepares, together with other IMEDEA researchers, the chapter centred on the level of the Mediterranean in the book Mediterranean Climate: from past to future.

MedCLIVAR is an international program about the Mediterranean climate, and is part of the World-wide project CLIVAR (Climate Variability and Predictability) on climate research.
