IUNICS researchers analyze aging and calorie restriction

Four researchers from the University of the Balearic Islands have been published in the prestigious international science journal Aging Cell, number 1 in the field of aging research, an article on changes in protein expression in fat in relation to aging and dietary caloric restriction. Researchers Pilar Roca, Jordi Oliver, Adamo Valle and JordiSerra-Sastre are members of the Translational Oncology Multidisciplinary Team from the University Research Institute of Health Sciences (IUNICS).

UIB researchers have compared, using proteomics techniques (which allow us to study a large number of proteins at once), these changes of expression that may be related to the benefits of caloric restriction. The work includes expression changes in 40 key proteins, some with still unknown function, and can help to unveil the anti-aging effect of caloric restriction.
