GEOLO-MUN, a national geothermics at the national level instructional activity as well as a space to share experiences at at the national level at the national level conference

On 13 December at the Science and Technology Park the GEOCAMB research gro at the national level up of the University of Girona (UdG), with the support of ACC1Ó, will organize a training session on the efficient use of this renewable and alternative source of energy to produce heat and hot water.

For the second year in a row the Centre for Research in Environmental Geology and Cartography (GEOCAMB) of the University of Girona (UdG) is organizing the GEOLO-MUN conference with the support of ACC1Ó of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Autonomous Government of Catalonia) and the collaboration of the Geological Institute of Catalonia (IGC), the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME), the Spanish Association of Professional Geologists, the Spanish Geothermal Technology Platform (GEOPLAT) and the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE).

GEOLO-MUN provides training and a national forum to share information and experiences with the aim of highlighting the social and economic importance of applied geology. This year’s edition, which will be held on 13 December in the auditorium of the Jaume Casademont Building of the Science and Technology Park of the UdG, will focus on the efficiency of low-temperature geothermal energy.

Energy savings
Energy saving and environmental sustainability criteria have converted renewable energy sources into a alternative for the present and the future that must be considered. In this context, although geothermics is a less well-known source, it has been considered a cost-effective option in recent years due to its high energy efficiency in heating, air conditioning and hot water production in public and privately-owned buildings. Low temperature geothermic resources are a form of renewable energy that have experienced continued growth thanks to advances in geologic knowledge and technological improvements.
As the most efficient designs require a comprehensive and coordinated view of all the sectors involved, the programme is intended for a wide range of professionals from varied backgrounds (geologists, engineers, architects, installers, political leaders, municipal and business technicians, construction and building professionals, university students) who are interested in geothermal energy projects.
