d. Specialised subject areas

The e-MTA Campus’ clear aim to operate across borders and its target to have an international scope requires specialist fields in which the UIB-UdG-CSIC consortium is especially strong and competitive compared to other offers. Our commitment to combining the three institutions’ strengths in terms of sustainable tourism and the environment and water, together with the existence of two major advanced research lines, supported by their research capacity in physics, computation and applications, and food and health, form an attractive and modern campus project that is sensitive to local problems. The campus’ specialisation will allow it to better focus on headhunting, employability and converting the e-MTA Campus into a clear international reference.

Moreover, tourism, water and the environment imply strategic priorities both in the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands and in Catalonia. The e-MTA Campus was designed as a campus to meet the needs of these priorities, with financial feasibility and from a standpoint of sustainability and innovation, using the results of the high quality research conducted at the UIB, the UdG and CSIC, ICRA and in collaboration with various institutions and companies in the public and private sector. The e-MTA Campus offers a model based on 4 Lines of Specialisation:

  1. Tourism Sustainability Line (LST)
  2. Water Line (LH2O)
  3. Physics, Computing and Applications Line(LFCA)
  4. Food and Health Line (LAS)
