iii. Actions

The following basic actions are planned in order to achieve the previous goals and directly coincide with the improvement in research and increase in knowledge transfer actions:

In general, although it is difficult to relate each action with the specific improvement of an indicator, since it is all the actions (even the actions indirectly related to research and transfer work) that will provide the desired impact, it is indeed possible to approximately calculate some of the proposed goals.

Therefore there are some actions: Postgrad Study Centre (A.B.2), Learning Centre (A.B.3), International PhD School and area for preparing European proposals (A.C.3), or International House (A.G.1), which should clearly lead to improving the indicators related to research training, such as the number of transnational degrees (to reach 14). Furthermore, 100% of the PhDs with mention of quality will be achieved and the actions mentioned here will also lead to an increase in the number of theses presented in the e-MTA lines of specialisation (from 69 to about 120).

Another group of actions are related to attracting talent and retaining it, which should lead to a general quantitative and qualitative increase in research work at the e-MTA Campus. Among these actions Satellite Project (B.C.1) and the Excellence professorships (B.C.9), should be highlighted, along with the International PhD School (A.C.3). In addition to increasing the number of theses, this action should improve the indicators of the number of articles published in first quartile journals, the number of national and international projects, in particular European ones and above all the number of post-PhD researchers. The goal is to increase the latter indicator up to 135, whereas the previous ones should be increased by between 10% and 20%, depending on the line of specialisation. For example, there is a greater margin for improvement in the indicator of first quartile articles in the LH2O and LAS. All these results should also lead to a higher percentage of six-year-periods of research, which, in the case of the LST must be much higher (to reach 85% by 2016) whereas the other lines should be maintained or 100% must be reached.

Lastly, due to the importance of the transfer of research results to the economy and society, there are many actions linked to this aspect. These actions are, at least, the following: Student internships in PRES-PM companies (A.B.9), University-Company Laboratory (B.B.3), Research result evaluation projects (B.B.4), Transfer subsidies (B.C.2), Extension of RESET and EnterPRES with extended leave for entrepreneurs (B.C.4), and Apoyo Project (B.C.5). All of them will lead to an increase in contracts with companies and their amounts (from about €8 M up to more than €10.5 M), patents and agreements for use of licences, setting up spin-off companies and the presence of companies from the sector in the scientific and technological parks (all these could be increased in most cases between 100% to 500%, especially in the LST, LH2O and LFCA lines).
