ii. Objectives

The eight main objectives for improving teaching are the specific features in the strategic targets of this project for conversion to CEI. As an overview, and associating them with the actions planned for each of them, they can be summarised as follows:

  1. Ongoing Improvement in the quality of teaching, not only as a guarantee for academic results, but one of the main aims of the Campus is also to attract international talent is. Although the universities taking part in this Campus are characterised by the high quality of teaching, maintaining this must be reinforced by a set of actions to adapt to the EHEA (A.C.4). In this respect, in addition to providing a great deal of improvements in learning by handicapped students, an action is proposed to improve the technologies used for examinations and electrical connection of the first rows in the lecture rooms (C.C.7).
  2. Headhunting international experts in all the relevant fields of this project, by means la consolidation of international bridges (A.C.2) and a Post-PhD contracting policies, tenure track positions, senior researcher and visiting lecturer/researcher positions, as proposed in the Satellite Project for headhunting (B.C.1), and the Excellence Professorships (B.C.9) for highly prestigious visiting lecturers. All this will continue to be possible through activating innovation ecosystems and specialisation lines (B.C.10), so that the Campus will become a world reference in them. TheExterior Promotion Programme (C.C.10) and the Press Office (C.C.9) will play an indispensable role in the dissemination.
  3. Attracting international students, especially postgraduates, by means of the indispensable use of the Exterior Promotion Programme (C.C.10), linked to international bridges (A.C.2), and the Press Office (C.C.9), jointly with a scholarshippolicy handled by the e-MTA Campus. Therefore, for example, in the last two years, both the UIB and the UdG have handled scholarships, jointly financed by Banco Santander, Telefónica S.A. and Bancaja, and aimed at Latin American students to study postgraduate courses linked to PhDs with a quality award. These scholarships are related to theInternational PhD School (A.C.3) in the case of PhD students, and the Postgraduate Study Centre (AVANZA) (A.B.2) for the master’s students along with support from the Learning Centre (A.B.3) for all kinds of learning resources.
  4. Promoting international cross-border programmes for scientific and academic collaboration in the PRES-PM Pyrenees-Mediterranean Cross-Border Research and Higher Group (A.C.1), together with the Universities of Perpignan Via-Domitia and Pierre et Marie Curie – Paris VI (from the Oceanographic Observatory of Banyuls). This involves a preliminary stage in promoting the students by internships in PRES-PM companies (A.B.9), to subsequently implement joint degrees. All the foregoing within the scope of the governance improvement project, both in the framework of the PRES-PM and the e-MTA Campus (C.C.8).
  5. Improvement of teaching support infrastructures particularly linked to the previous section, in other words, headhunting international students. In this respect, the International House (A.G.1) must be set up as a socialisation centre and an introduction to the e-MTA Campus for foreign students and the Tourism Faculty (A.G.2) must be built specifically in the UdG. This can be added to the actions already mentioned: The International PhD School (A.C.3.), Postgraduate Studies Centre (AVANZA) (A.B.2) and the Learning Centre (A.B.3). Moreover, within the scope of greater efficiency for the system, optimisation of the invested resources will be carried out by means of the Open Data project (C.C.12) which will ensure improved management of the whole Campus, and therefore also teaching management, and the Laboratory Sustainability Audit (B.C.3) of the Campus.
  6. Providing particular features to the teaching curricula in academic fields related to the Campus enabling their enhanced international approval and interrelation in the social and business field. Within this scope, a focus will be placed on the action related to design and implementation of the Vertical Curricula (A.C.7), which will ensure better integration of all the academic studies (Vocational training, graduate, master’s and PhDs) in the fields that differentiate the campus.
  7. Reinforcement of the links between intermediate and higher level vocational training and university education. Both universities aim to create links with intermediate and higher level vocational training centres and, for this purpose, they have been financed through the reinforcement sub-programme. In fact, as an example, the UdG has one of the largest secondary schools in the Community on its physical campus. This is one of the main targets of the action: Training collaboration networks (A.C.5), along with the one described below.
  8. Improvement of employability of the graduates, by means of special proposals: creating training collaboration networks A.C.5) as a tool for structuring these internships in institutions and companies, among other objectives; students carrying out internships in the PRES-PM companies (A.B.9).
