Chemistry and Marie Curie, stars of the Researchers’ Night at UdG

The Culture House, in the city centre of Girona, will host this great science event. The Researchers’ Night is a FP7 project, funded by the European Commission, and coordinated throughout Spain by the University of Girona.

The Cultura House, in Girona, will host this Friday 23 September a new edition of the Researchers’ Night, a science festival organized by Cathedra of Scientific Culture and Digital Communication (C4D, for the acronym in Catalan) of the University of Girona (UdG). Almost 350 cities all around Europe will hold simultaneously this great celebration to put in contact citizens and researchers and to promote scientific careers among students.

The theme of this year’s edition is chemistry, as 2011 is celebrating the International Year of Chemistry. This year is also the centenary of Marie Curie’s first Nobel Prize. Throughout the evening, attendees will discover all the chemistry that is involved in every little activity of our daily life, since we wake up in the morning until we go to bed at night.

Through Marie Curie’s experiences in life, the event will invite the attendees –especially kids and students– to play and experiment on different scientific workshops and chemist performances. Once again, the famous Catalan scientific populariser of Catalan Television, Dani Jiménez, will be the event’s host and will impress the audience with his crazy experiments.
The Researchers’ Night is a FP7 PEOPLE project, funded by the European Commission. C4D is leading the project in Spain for the fourth time. However, UdG takes part of this project since 2007.
