The University of Girona presents 20 Industrial PhD projects

Researchers at the University of Girona have presented 20 Industrial PhD projects out of the total of 109 submissions from all Catalan universities, i.e. 18.3% of the total. Thus, after the Polytechnic University of Catalonia with 26 projects, the University of Girona is the second university that has submitted more projects.

The quality of research at the University of Girona (UdG) is in the seventh position in the Spanish ranking, according to the Report of the Fundación Conociemiento y Desarrollo (CyD), presented last week in Madrid.

Water network: Thirty-three radio programs in the field of water

The radio program “Water Network” was created aiming at disseminating various aspects of water and its treatment. On a weekly basis, the programme started on October 2012 until July 8th within the magazine “La Tarda” and “Girona Ara” in La Xarxa Freqüència Girona (92.7 FM) station, both programmes presented by Eduardo Cid.

A doctoral thesis addresses occurrence of pharmaceutical compounds in wastewaters through a multidisciplinary approach

The occurrence of pharmaceutical compounds in wastewaters causes growing concern worldwide. First of all, the consumption of drugs has significantly increased during last decades. On the other hand, their potential detrimental effects on the environment have been demonstrated, and trace concentrations have been detected in water intended for human consumption. In spite of those facts, current conventional wastewater treatment plants are not able to remove these compounds efficiently.

Master’s in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine
