Diploma awards event for the Masters and VII Conference on Food Biotechnology

On November 7th the National Institute of Food Technology (INTE) , the EuroMediterranean Campus of Tourism and Water (Campus e-MTA) and the Polytechnic School (EPS) of Girona organize the VII Conference on Food Biotechnology, This year the theme is “Nutrigenomics, personalized nutrition and the challenge of future health claims on food” taught by prof. Andreu Palou, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Director of the Molecular Biology  Laboratory, Nutrition and Biotechnology – Nutrigenomics, of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). On the same day will be delivered the Masters of Food Biotechnology of the University of Girona diplomas awards to students of the 6th and 7th promotions.

A group of researchers in Tourism from the University of Girona will develop a project on European enclaves

A group of researchers from the University of Girona has submitted a proposal for a European call to create a brand associated with the main tourist enclaves in Europe. The project, led by professors Jaume Guia and Lluís Prats from the Research Group Organizational Networks and Innovation in Tourism (ONIT) affiliated to the Institute of Tourism Studies (INSETUR), aims to highlight the tourism potential behind geographical anomalities, such enclaves. An enclave is a territory completely surrounded by another country. There are four cases in Europe, which are Llivia, Baarle- Hertog and Baarle- Nassau, Büsingen am Hochrhein and Campione d’Italia. The project has a budget of about 250,000 Euros, and the main actions envisaged are: drafting a strategic plan, the creation of specific tourism products along the border, building an interpretation space to explain life in an enclave, creating a website, promotional materials and training and dissemination.


Euro-mediterranean Campus’ Water Ecosystem internal working session

The Euro-mediterranean Campus Water’s Innovation Ecosystem was presented during the event held last October 18th at the Scientific and Technological Park of the University of Girona, with the support from the Chamber of Commerce of Girona and the Catalan Agency for Enterprise  Competitiveness (ACCIÓ).

Dr. Joaquim Comas has become member of the Management Committee of “IWA SG on Instrumentation Control and Automation (ICA)”

LEQUIA researcher Dr. Joaquim Comas has been elected member of ICA Management Committee, being ICA one of the almost 50 “Specialist Groups” of International Water Association IWA. Dr. Comas’ appointment was made during the international Conference on Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA2013) held in Narbonne (France) from 18-20th September 2013. He will be the IWA Specialist Group – Working Group –Task Group liason officer.
