The Malaspina 2010 expedition receives the Trip of the Year Award from the Spanish Geographical Society

The Malaspina 2010 expedition, led by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and directed by Dr. Carlos M. Duarte, research lecturer of the CSIC at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA, CSIC-UIB), has been awarded with the Trip of the Year Award from the Spanish Geographical Society. The delivery of the Prize took place on March 28th, in Madrid. A representation of the expedition integrated by researchers from the different institutions that participate in the Project and members of the Spanish Navy attended the ceremony. CatalunyaCaixa’s Social Projects will award scholarships to the students of two Masters of Excellence offered by the University of Girona

The University of Girona and CatalunyaCaixa’s Social Projects have signed an agreement in the frameworkd of the Masters of Excellence Scholarship Programme. The master’s programs receiving scholarships are the European Master’s in Computer Vision and Robotics (VIBOT) and the Master’s in Water Science and Technology (CTA)

A researcher develops a methodology to optimize wastewater treatment resources and improve the quality of rivers

Pau Prat, researcher at the LEQUIA group (University of Girona) has focused his thesis on the development of a methodology to address the management problems in the industrial water cycle. A mathematical simulation model allows assessing operation strategies before being implemented.

The Orizonia Chair in Tourism Research and Knowledge Transfer at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) calls four scholarships for future students of the Campus e-MTA who will course a Master in Tourism or start a Ph.D. program, also related to this field of knowledge, at the UIB during the academic year 2012-2013. Specifically, three scholarships will be awarded for postgraduate studies and the last one to start a Ph.D thesis. The scholarships to start the Master will be endowed with 4,000 euros, and the grant to begin the thesis, with 6,000 per year.
