The Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA, CSIC-UIB) organizes today and tomorrow a workshop attended by European scientists engaged in operational oceanography to identify the best practices for the design, implementation, maintenance and distribution of data coastal observing systems in Europe, using the revolutionary autonomous underwater gliders. Scientists from the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea have analyzed at the IMEDEA the sustainable management of recreational fisheries

The working group on recreational fisheries of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), the leading scientific center for the North Athlantic, has met at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (CSIC-UIB) to discuss management measures which are necessary to ensure sustainable fishing in seas and oceans. The meeting has gathered 27 researchers from Norway, Finland, Great Britain, France, Sweden, Slovenia, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Holland, USA and Tasmania, as well as two representatives of European associations of Recreational Fishing. Logitravel and the Faculty of Tourism at the UIB reward the best students of the university Tourism degree

The Faculty of Tourism at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and the company Logitravel have launched the first edition of the Logitravel Award for the UIB’s Tourism Degree Best Student to promote and reward excellence and academic quality of the Faculty of Tourism students. Students who can apply to the award are those enrolled for a minimun of 60 credits in the Tourism degree during the current academic year and with the condition of attending all examinations. The TECHNO project (Erasmus Mundus Partnership) will bring eight students and teachers from Southeast Asia to the UdG next year

Eight students and teachers from South-East Asia (six from Cambodia, one from Indonesia and one from China) will study or do research at the UdG next year (2012-2013) through the first call of the TECHNO project. Specifically, there will be an undergraduate student, three students of master’s degrees and two PhD students, one as a postdoctoral researcher and the other as a teacher. Ampliar +
