The UdG presents itself to seventy secondary schools

The UdG’s Promotion Unit has presented the university range of degrees to seventy secondary schools in Catalonia. This has brought our university closer to more than three thousand high school students. “How can I get a scholarship?”… “Where can I live if I study in Girona?”… These are just two of the questions asked by high school students when we presented our university in their school. The Promotion Unit members answered all their questions; they gave students a general picture of the UdG, of all they can study, future careers, possible scholarships, or life at a hall of residence.

The UIB jointly organizes a meeting to discuss the European directives about electronic procurement of tourism services

The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) organizes, together with the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, Turismo do Alentejo and UBINET, the meeting The Electronic Procurement of Travel Services. The challenges resulting from legislative acts of the European Union, to be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012, in the auditorium of the Agricultural School of the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, Portugal. In this conference, participants will analyze three European Union regulations affecting the marketing of tourism services online. On the one hand, researchers will discuss two directives already in force about services and consumer rights and, on the other, a European Union proposal to modify the EU directive on data protection. UIB gathers the researchers from in projects CIBERobn and BIOCLAIMS to progress in the fight against obesity

The research group in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Nutrition and Biotechnology – Nutrigenomics at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) has organized the Symposium on Biomarkers & Lifestyle: Interaction Meeting BIOCLAIMS-CIBERobn to bring together researchers from two research projects, BIOCLAIMS and CIBERobn, to share different approaches, strategies and tools to fight obesity. One of the challenges of the current research is the development of biomarkers that can identify nutrition and health lifestyle recommendations best suited to each individual. UIB announces two new grant programmes to support research

The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) announces two grant programmes to promote research: on the one hand, grants are held for visiting young postdoctoral researchers on short visits and; on the other hand, two PhD positions are called to investigate in research groups at the UIB. Both announcements are part of the actions to strengthen and internationalize research in the framework of the Campus of International Excellence project.
