Lecturers and heads of universities from Maghreb have participated in two workshops organized by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Policy and Innovation at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in the framework of the EVARECH project (Entrepreneuriat et Valorisation de la Recherche). This is a project funded by the European Union and tries to promote multilateral cooperation among universities and higher education organizations of the Member States and partner countries. An IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) study indicates the Posidonia density in the Mediterranean Sea could decline by 90 percent by the mid-21st century

study done by researchers at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA, CSIC-UIB) reveals that the plant density of the marine species Posidonia oceanica could decline by 90 percent by mid-21st century because of surface water warming of the Mediterranean Sea . The results, which were published in the latest issue of the journal Nature Climate Change, suggest a «functional extinction» of species with a stage of emission of greenhouse gases «moderately optimistic». 32 undergraduate students of the Balearic Islands become scientists in the Third UIB Technical and Scientific Summer Campus

The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) organizes its Third Technical and Scientific Summer Campus for secondary students of the Balearic Islands. The campus will take place in DEMOLAB and DEMOTEC, two laboratories at the UIB, from Monday, June 25, until Friday, June 29. 32 undergraduate students will participate in the Third Technical and Scientific Summer Campus. The students will become scientists during the five days of the campus. They will perform five scientific experiments and five technical experiments in the laboratories of the University, supervised by co-op students of the Faculty of Sciences and the Polytechnic School of the UIB. The UIB offers mobility grants to PhD students

The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) has called for mobility grants to PhD students in the framework of the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Higher Education and Research Pole (PRES-PM). The main aim of this program is to facilitate mobility and employability of researchers trained at the University while contributing to the construction and the internationalization of PRES-PM. In particular through this program two kind of actions may be funded: on the one hand, attendance at conferences and seminars, provided that the researcher presents a paper, and on the other, research visits of at least three weeks duration. The UIB organizes the Averroes seminar Possibilités et Approches Alternatives des Études Supérieures de Tourisme

The Vice-Rector’s Office for Internationalization and Cooperation of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) has organized the Averroes seminar Possibilités et Approches Alternatives des Études Supérieures de Tourisme, an activity of the Averroes network. The goal is to share and pool experience and knowledge in the field of higher education in tourism among the representatives of the participating universities. For this purpose, lectures, workshops and visits have been scheduled. Lecturers at the universities from Algeria, Morocco, France and Italy, as well as the UIB, participate in the seminar.
