The UdG is working to develop a device for detecting arsenic in groundwater and wells

The group of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry has signed a contract with Dena Desarrollos, SL with the aim of developing a device for rapid detection of arsenic in water. This scientific collaboration, led by Drs. Clàudia Fontàs and Enriqueta Anticó, has derived from the research contained in Raquel Güell’s doctoral thesis.

The Faculty of Tourism of the UIB organizes registration tutorials for future Tourism degree students

The Faculty of Tourism at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) organizes registration tutorials for future students, to be held on July 16, 17, 24, 25 and 30, at 12:00 at AB25 classroom of the building G. M. Jovellanos, on the university campus at the UIB. These orientation sessions are addressed to students who will enroll in the first year of the Tourism degree at the UIB in order to solve doubts derived from the registration process and from the beginning of the course at the University. UIB sequences the genome of a marine isolate key to solve contamination by nitrates

Researchers of the Microbiology Research Group from the Department of Microbiology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) have sequenced and published the genome of the strain ZoBell of the bacterium Pseudomonas stutzeri, a bacterial species of special interest in the field of environmental biotechnology, especially in areas as the elimination of nitrates in drinking water, wastewater or groundwater. Seagrass meadows store twice as much carbon as forests, according to IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) researchers

An international research team, involving the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA, CSIC-UIB), has found that seagrass meadows can store twice as much carbon as temperate and tropical forests. The study, published in the latest issue of the journal Nature Geoscience, confirms the relevant role these ecosystems play mitigating the effects of climate change. Ampliar +

 

UIB will offer an English pathway for the degree in Tourism starting next academic year

The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) will offer from next academic year the English International pathway for the degree in Tourism, which will allow students to finish their studies with a good command of foreign languages. With this initiative, the aim of the Faculty of Tourism at the UIB is to train highly qualified professionals with a good command of the languages ??most used in the tourism sector.
