Researchers at LEQUIA discover new ways of removing organic compounds from wastewater

A team of researchers led by Dr. Rafael González Olmos has developed a new process for removing organic compounds from wastewater by iron-modified zeolites and sunlight. The study has been published in the prestigious journal ‘Applied Catalysis B-Environmental’.

The University Institute for Research into Health Sciences (IUNICS) at the University of the Balearic Islands (the UIB) offers during the academic year 2012-13 a PhD program in Basic Medical Sciences and Health, former PhD in Biosocial/Health Sciences. Graduates who enroll in the PhD program will learn to design and implement planning, action and evaluation in the field of medicine, taking into account the different health claims, according to conditions, age and social context. Researchers from the IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) evaluate the impact of ultraviolet radiation on marine life

An international team of scientists, involving researchers from the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA, CSIC-UIB), has published a paper in the international journal Global Ecology and Biogeography. The paper evaluates the magnitude of impacts caused by increasing ultraviolet radiation B (UVB) and determines the relative sensitivity between organisms and marine processes. The analysis is based on 1,784 experimental evaluations performed with natural radiation and organisms from different geographic areas as well as with artificial radiation and cultured organisms in different laboratories worldwide. Orizonia grants four scholarships related to tourism studies to UIB students

The Orizonia Group has granted, through the Orizonia Chair in Tourism Research and Knowledge Transfer at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), four scholarships to students from the University of the Balearic Islands in tourism-related courses. The beneficiaries of three scholarships, valued at 4,000 EUR, to study the master’s degrees on Tourism and Environmental Economics and the master’s degree on Tourism Administration have been Nuria Salvà, Laura Linares and Carlos Pablos. The scholarship of 6,000 EUR has been awarded to David Daniel Peña to develop a PhD thesis in the framework of corporate social responsibility policies of worldwide tourist groups. Ampliar +

 

UIB teaches a postgraduate course to specialize graduates on town planning regulations of the Balearic Islands
