The research group in Microbiology from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) has been awarded with the Prize Jaume II, granted by the Consell de Mallorca (the island council). The award was delivered during the celebration acts for the National Day of Mallorca 2012.

Research with the participation of IMEDEA (UIB-CSIC) develops a system able to predict the ability of a soil to get itself clean

A multidisciplinary team of researchers from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), the University of Oviedo and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) has developed a bioinformatics platform to analyze the ability of an ecosystem to absorb hundreds of contaminants. The study, published in the journal ISME J from the Nature group, opens new perspectives for determining the ability of a soil affected by spills to decontaminate itself. This analysis is based on the sequencing of DNA from microorganisms. Ampliar +

 

Researchers’ Night this year focuses on sustainable energy and neuroscience

Researchers at the UdG organise a workshop in Zaragoza on spin states in biochemical and inorganic molecules

From 18-21 September, the Zcam centre (University of Zaragoza) will host a workshop on ‘Spin States in Biochemistry and Inorganic Chemistry’, organised by Drs. Marcel Swart and Mikael P. Johansson, IQC researchers at the UdG. The event will bring together major international experts in the field of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
