Logitravel and the Faculty of Tourism at the UIB reward the best students of the university Tourism degree

The Faculty of Tourism at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and the company Logitravel have launched the first edition of the Logitravel Award for the UIB’s Tourism Degree Best Student to promote and reward excellence and academic quality of the Faculty of Tourism students. Students who can apply to the award are those enrolled for a minimun of 60 credits in the Tourism degree during the current academic year and with the condition of attending all examinations. The TECHNO project (Erasmus Mundus Partnership) will bring eight students and teachers from Southeast Asia to the UdG next year

Eight students and teachers from South-East Asia (six from Cambodia, one from Indonesia and one from China) will study or do research at the UdG next year (2012-2013) through the first call of the TECHNO project. Specifically, there will be an undergraduate student, three students of master’s degrees and two PhD students, one as a postdoctoral researcher and the other as a teacher. Expand +

IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) spreads Balearic science on the 1st Maremostra Film Festival

The Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA), a joint research center from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), will collaborate with scientific outreach at the 1st International Film Festival of the Oceans ”MAREMOSTRA“, which will take place from yesterday, May 8, to Saturday May 12 in Palma. The aim of this participation, says the IMEDEA’s director, Beatriz Morales, focuses on “promote and bring the scientific excellence culture produced in our institute to the whole Majorcan society and international participants of this new cultural event”. Researchers from around the world meet at the UIB to analyze changes in sea level during the last interglacial stage

The research group in Karst, Sedimentology, Coastal Geomorphology and Fluvial Geomorphology at the University of the Balearic Islands and the Karst group at the University of South Florida have organized the workshop Sea Level Changes Into MIS 5: from Observation to Prediction, dedicated to study sea level changes during the last interglacial stage (marine isotope stage 5, MIS 5), approximately between 80,000 and 135,000 years ago.
